Abby Moriarty was previously the Vice President of Design for Calvin Klein so to say she knows her shirts would be an understatement. Since leaving the brand the creative has now founded her own t-shirt brand called 1 9 2 0.
1 9 2 0 is named after the year that the T-shirt was officially entered into Webster’s Dictionary. Moriarty has expressed her interest in the “simple complexity of the T-shirt” and the line focuses on the refinement of elements like color, shape, and material. The line features T-Shirts for both men and women, all of which are manufactured in New York from L.A. spun cotton.
From the site:
Our days are rarely static. We venture out of our homes, we head to work, we meet with friends, we have new-business drinks, we go on dates. In our busy lives, there’s no time for wardrobe changes, and getting the pieces that you are wearing to transition with you throughout your day can be, well, hit or miss.
We design our pieces to shift with you and your day. No frills, just thoughtfully designed pieces that take everything you love about t-shirts and elevates it. The cut of the sleeve, the drop of the shoulder, and the touch of the fabric are all critical steps to #1920Everyday.
