Write For Us
Want to write for Divvy Magazine?
We accept original pitches and previously unpublished articles for consideration. Please be familiar with the style of content on Divvy Mag.
What should I write?
We publish interviews, such as “Pauli the PSM Talks Making Music, Inspiration, and Supporting S.T.E.A.M. Programs.” We publish photo series such as “Feature: Paris-Based Photographer Nick Prideaux.” We publish news, song releases, etc, such as “Bat for Lashes and ‘The Hunger.’” We publish personal essays and open letters such as “Dear Divvy, My name is Amanda Martin and I am a photographer…” And more.
Can I include links?
Of course, if they’re informative sources or your personal website/book/app/whatever else you’re trying to hype. We love when you link to us too. But no if they’re paid links or affiliates. Tell us who you are in your bio, and keep promotional language out of the article body itself.
If you’re looking for a sponsored post to promote your products, that’s different. Email us with that distinction in your in you subject line.
How long should it be?
800-1200 words. Ish.
Are you going to pay me?
Submissions are unpaid. This could change.
Okay…I’m ready to submit!
Please email your submissions to firstname.lastname@example.org with your pitch or completed piece within a shared Google Doc. Make sure you give us access. Share the Google Doc.
Note: We are an indie publication and cannot guarantee a response to every inquiry. By indie publication we mean small and scrappy. Divvy Magazine founder Kate Ferguson is also a marketing professional, screenwriter, actor, and producer in the process of launching a production company. Don’t feel stung if you don’t get a response. Feel free to follow up three times or send new pitches until the end of time like publicists do. Be your own publicist. There’s some free advice for you from Kate herself. You’re welcome.
Please don’t plagiarize. Duh.
Your submission opts you in to join our newsletter.
If we publish your original work we prefer that you do not publish it elsewear. You’re welcome to promote links your Divvy Magazine content on your personal blog and social media sites. If you absolutely must publish this piece again, we require a “Previously published on Divvy Magazine” link back to us and a no-follow link on your republished piece.
As always, thank you for your interest, your patience, and your support.
